It was supposed to be a hush-hush affair. But the fact couldn’t remain hidden from inquisitive journalists. George Fernandes crept into Lucknow to have a private tete-a-tete with Mulayam. Interiors of Mulayam’s own office served as the venue. Insiders say they discussed ‘politics’ for over half-an-hour.
Nobody knows the subject of conversation. Neither can it be said with certainty whether this reflected George’s increasing alienation from NDA or Mulayam’s leanings with BJP as his detractors would have us believe? Or are they paving the path for another Third Front? Only the time will tell!
